Why did you join TSC Membership?

I joined to meet other motivated women entrepreneurs. I love the energy the group provides. Everyone is just passionately trying to succeed, which is exhilarating to be apart of.

What is a favorite small business you like to shop or support?

SculptHouse @scuplthouseboutique for their amazing fitness apparel.

Abbey Glass @shopabbeyglass for the best everyday and formal wear dresses.

Emily Landers @shophowdshedothat for all her favorite speaker products.

Where do you go to get your inspiration now?

My inspiration comes when I am swimming laps in water or when I am near the Ocean.

It’s not a direct source of information, haha but I am more intuitive and creative when water is involved! I come up with the best ideas.

What is the best business advice you have ever given or received?

Fear has two meanings. Fear everything and run or Face everything and rise! (And I dare you to rise!) 😉

Why did you join TSC Membership?

We joined TSC to connect with other like-minded businesses and establish a network of positive relationships. The Summit really caught our attention – it looked like a fun group of best friends that you always wish you had and we just knew that TSC was going to be full of “our people” and we’re so glad we’re here!

What is a favorite small business you like to shop or support?

We HEART all the fabulous jewels created by the duo at Espascio Popup. The glassware and ceramics from Half Past Seven Home are next-level and thoughtfully designed. And who can resist the exquisit rattan pieces of furniture from the sister founders at Varnish Collection

Where do you go to get your inspiration now?

We gather inspiration every day and keep a running photo album on our phones where we store all kinds of things – it’s very overwhelming ha! We are most inspired right now by leading fashion and textile houses, our travels, and old-school print magazines. We’re always looking for new ways to grow our brand whether that be exploring different printing methods, working with unique colorways, developing a new pattern or product, etc.

What is the best business advice you have ever given or received?

A colleague from Morgan’s previous life in corporate marketing for a packaging distribution company told her “Don’t always work in the business – work on the business!” We repeat this mantra a few times a day to remind ourselves when we get caught up in the weeds (which is so easy to do) that someone on this ship has to steer it!

Meet Lindsey Catone of What Lindsey Loves

Hey friends! Lindsey here from “What Lindsey Loves,” a brand consulting company created to help beautiful brands tell their story through pretty pictures and darling details. What is a favorite small business you like to shop or support?

There are so many! I do have a heart for all things fashion and have really loved watching Holly Shae’s journey. My go-to for stationary is Katie Corley, I love Erin Tice’s style and her new tabletop collection is delightful. From a creative standpoint – I have loved a recent project with Monica Farber – gosh she is smart and FUNNY!

Where do you go to get your inspiration now?

Travel! I have always loved to travel with my family. I am most certainly drawn to beautiful beach towns and have drawn so much inspiration in my newest venture, la point from all the pretty resorts and courts I have been lucky enough to visit.

What is the best business advice you have ever given or received?

Don’t give up! Stay true to your style and yourself. Give back when you can – it is all a gift.

Meet Meghan McNamara, Artist

I’m an abstract artist from Chapel Hill, NC, who paints brightly colored organic shapes with metallic gold borders. I release monthly pop-culture themed painting collections and license my designs via product collaborations, most recently a line of tennis clothing. I love working as a creative, building a brand, and spreading happiness into the world with my art.

Why did you join TSC Membership?

I joined The Southern C after seeing an Instagram friend post content from Summit and I wished I were there, too. As an artist who works from home, finding community amidst a group of supportive and successful female entrepreneurs is amazing.

What is a favorite small business you like to shop or support?

A few years ago my answer would be different since two of my most favorite small businesses sadly have closed their doors.  This has shown me the sometimes fragile side of the small business world.  However, all I have to do is look to the TSC members to find others who are learning and growing, like me, and flourishing and are oh so creative.  I believe the future is promising for small businesses.  I see such beautiful talent and strength of heart in so many ladies here that picking one favorite small business would literally be impossible for me.

Where do you go to get your inspiration now?

Foremost, it is from my mother who passed away four years ago and memories of watching her create a beautiful life for her family.  She was an original “romanticize your life” believer without knowing it and before it became a social media trend.

For me, it has come with age, but if I love something, then I trust myself.  I’m no longer engaged in the age-old battle of should I listen to my head or to my heart.  I simply follow my heart.  If it should fail me, then I know I’ll still have peace.

Also, my beautiful (formerly Hearst/now Hoffman Media) Victoria magazines, old and new, never cease to inspire me.  I’ve saved every issue from their inception.  I knew Victoria before I was introduced to my husband and they have followed us with every move our family has made since then.  Mark knows that those dusty boxes of old magazines aren’t an option, they go where I go.  On any given page, there is something lovely that inspires me and lures me down a dreamy rabbit trail!

What is the best business advice you have ever given or received?

“Where you are now is where you are supposed to be.”  As an older lady now, I know I could easily become disillusioned with the late start to pursuing my dream but with my faith in God and belief that there is a perfect and appointed time for everything, I have peace. Instead of perhaps feeling bitterness over lost time, I have utter joy as I look to the future.

Meet Stephanie Troxler of Little Blue Designs

My name is Stephanie Troxler. Why did you join TSC Membership?

I joined TSC to meet other creatives, small business owners, and brand owners that I can learn from and connect with. I’m exploring the world of licensing this year and am excited to collaborate with brands who want to use my artwork on their products and packaging. My favorite thing about being in TSC is the sense of community and the genuine support from all of the members. One of the best perks about being a member is access to the resources and discussions that are invaluable to any small business owner.

What is a favorite small business you like to shop or support?

Some of my favorite shops are @driftwoodbeachhome and @cabana.seaside Whether it’s a new outfit, something for my home, or a gift for someone, I never leave empty handed.

Where do you go to get your inspiration now?

Like many creatives, I gather my inspiration from my surroundings and experiences. My family and I live about 15 minutes from the beach in Bradenton, so my subjects and color palettes are generally inspired by coastal living in Florida.

What is the best business advice you have ever given or received?

1. I think most of us here have felt like there just aren’t enough hours in a day. The best advice I was given was to ask yourself, “is the building going to burn down if I don’t address this right now?” It’s really helped me set boundaries and has alleviated that pressure to get everything done all at once.

2. There’s no such thing as failures, we refer to those as lessons.

3.  Get comfortable saying and hearing “No”. Not everything is going to be a great fit. Your schedule may not allow for something. Also, don’t assume that a “No” is definite, it just might not be the right time. You never know what opportunity is awaiting you around the corner.
