Great primer on whisk(e)y! Something to add: cask strength whiskey is often labeled as “bottled in bond.” This overproof liquor must be stirred for longer to reach the proper dilution strength.
Another Manhattan variation to experiment with is the Classic Manhattan. Instead of splitting the vermouth between sweet and dry, this recipe calls for 1 oz of sweet vermouth and 3 dashes of Angostura bitter.
