Celebrating Our 2025 Phyllis Hoffman DePiano Summit Scholarship Recipient: Tresena Bowe of Brown Butter Shoppe

Each year, The Southern C Summit presents an inspiring entrepreneur with the Phyllis Hoffman DePiano Scholarship—someone whose passion and purpose align with our mission to connect, collaborate, and cultivate. This year’s recipient, Tresena Bowe, is the visionary behind Brown Butter Shoppe, a vibrant retail incubator space that has quickly become a beacon for small businesses and a cultural hub in her community.

Born from Tresena’s own experience navigating the barriers of traditional retail, Brown Butter Shoppe was created as a launchpad for both local and global brands. By offering low-overhead opportunities and shared space, Tresena is helping fellow entrepreneurs grow their audience, test ideas, and strengthen their strategies—bridging the gap to brick and mortar with intention and heart.

Since opening its doors in 2024, Brown Butter has flourished as a space where dreams feel possible. And now, with a new chapter on the horizon—a sister concept, Social Butterfly, opening April 1st—Tresena’s commitment to community and collaboration only continues to expand.

Here’s what Tresena had to say about her experience attending the 2025 TSC Summit as this year’s scholarship recipient:

A heartfelt Thanks! Just what my heart needed.

I had the time of my life and I owe it all to The Southern C!! In my best Bill Medley voice, I’m thrilled to have received the Phyllis Hoffman DePaino Scholarship, a game-changing experience that ignited my entrepreneurial spirit.

This conference was the catalyst my business needed, offering invaluable connections, incredible educational content and takeaways, inspiring presenters, and stunning fashion. I found every topic informative and relevant, particularly Emily McCarthy’s insights on building her brand. Sitting alongside design guru Holly Hollingsworth Phillips was a pivotal moment, refueling my passion to push forward. I arrived feeling weary, but left revitalized and focused, with a powerful network of women cheering me on to achieve my dreams. A highlight was the mentor lunch, led by the visionary Betty Soldi, which provided a unique opportunity for direct connection and personalized guidance. This perfect blend of work and play has left me eager to join the ongoing community and continue harnessing its positive energy. As a wife and mother, Shunta Grant, reminded me of the balancing act of it all, inspiring me to strive for excellence in every area of my life!

Counting the days until Palm Beach my friends!

We are honored to have Tresena as part of the TSC community and can’t wait to cheer her on in this next phase.
