Recently, #tscsummit sponsor Emily McCarthy opened up her bag of tricks (literally) and talked to us about the tools and products she uses every day in Savannah as designer of her signature lifestyle for home, events and business. Emily works with clients nationwide specializing in unique branding design, wedding paper styling and has launched an online store featuring her own gift, party and stationery products.
ARE YOU AN EARLY RISER OR A NIGHT OWL?
I’m naturally a night-owl but motherhood has forced me into an early riser. I definitely have to get up before the kiddos so I can get myself ready for the day! It’s nice to have that quiet time each day.
HOW DO YOU START YOUR DAY?
Nothing happens before my first cup of coffee! Then I usually catch up on my schedule and emails from the evening. Leisurely mornings are of the past so I hit the ground running getting the kids ready to head out the door!
HOW DO YOU END YOUR DAY?
I love to end the day with quiet time with my husband. Our kids go to bed pretty early so we look forward to our adult time in the evenings. We could be chatting about our goals with work or vegging out to our favorite tv! An occasional glass of wine accompanies whatever we are doing!
FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE SOUTH?
Traditions! From entertaining to etiquette and style, there are just a few things that Southerners do best!
MOST UNUSUAL ITEM(S) IN YOUR BAG?
Currently a breast pump – just saying! Definitely the life of a mother right now.
BEST BUDGET FIND YOU USE EVERYDAY?

BIGGEST SPLURGE YOU USE EVERYDAY?
A fabulous pair of eyewear.
PRODUCT THAT SAVES YOU THE MOST TIME?
Mac Lipstick – doesn’t matter how undone you appear, throw on lipstick and it’s instant glam!
MOST VERSATILE WARDROBE STAPLE?
A great pair of diamond studs.
WHAT’S IN YOUR BAG?
I actually carry a clutch within my bag because it holds my necessities that get tossed back and forth between diaper bag and my work bag. This holds my wallet, keys, business cards, make-up essentials and glasses. In my larger work bag, I throw in catalogs/files, snacks, water, idea journal and usually MORE glasses.
