Three Must-try Exercises to Gauge Your Brand’s Effectiveness on Instagram
We all know that it is important to take time and self-reflect, right? Well this is also true for your brand, too. Try these three short exercises to see if you are leveraging the power of Instagram. Since Instagram (IG) is an extension and a highly visible platform of most brands, I designed these exercises for Instagram.
Exercise One. Write out the main pillars (attributes and principles) that you want to communicate through your brand. Now, take a quick glance at your Instagram page. Are your pillars reflected through your images? Remember that your Instagram account acts as a portfolio for your brand. You want to make sure that your social media channels and website are closely aligned and communicate your brand in the right light.
Exercise Two. Dust off your resume and take a few minutes to update it. What information is listed in the beginning? What collaborations/partnerships did you add? Think about how your IG profile can reflect your resume. Write a succinct bio that is in alignment with your resume. Start to post pictures that highlight recent high profile collaborations. Think of your IG profile as your new resume. Remember that Instagram users spend less than 15 seconds to gauge if they want to follow you — make your first Instagram encounter count.
Exercise Three. Go and find three Instagram profiles that you admire. Take the time to write out what is special about these accounts to you. Is it the beautiful imagery? The funny captions? Or the uniqueness of the product? After you have a working list, take a look and see if any themes arise. Then think about how you can draw inspiration from these accounts and apply it to your own.
Lastly, create a social media campaign that is centered around what you have gained from the three exercises above. And most importantly, execute and stick to it. Best of luck!
