Summit Talk with Tori Mellott
A highlight of Leapfrog’s participation in The Southern C Summit is bringing some of the talented editors that we work with to charming Charleston. We have known Tori Mellott since her Domino days to her most recent post at Traditional Home and were thrilled for her to join our media panel at this year’s Summit. Tori’s sense of style is always on point and she has a killer sense of humor to boot (follow her on instagram, you’ll see @torimellott)!
I still remember pouring over pictures of her Domino-era apartment– an expertly and efficiently designed studio punctuated by bold patterns, personal details and that high/low mix we all try so hard to achieve. As Traditional Home’s Senior Design & Market editor, she scouts the best and brightest brands in the interior design industry and is always on the hunt for homes, products and people who inspire. Here, we dig a bit deeper into her first Charleston experience…
Jackie: A favorite bit of advice or takeaway from another summit panelist?
Tori: There were so many valuable panels and presentations. I really learned so much. I think the panelist that educated me the most was Waiting On Martha. She very succinctly pointed out how to successfully manage social media accounts, which ones, and why. I found her lecture to be very enriching!
Jackie: Was there an attendee or business that really resonated with you? Why?
Tori: I’m actually a huge admirer of The Southern C itself! I think Whitney and Cheri are total powerhouses and I am totally blown away by their enthusiasm, moxie, and energy. I very much admire them and this beautiful thing they’ve built! After I experienced The Southern C Summit, I was even more honored to have been invited as a panelist and guest. I’m already figuring out how I can get down there next year!
Jackie: One thing you didn’t address in the media panel that you wish you had?
Tori: At the risk of sounding slightly haughty, I thought the media panel that Eddie, Robert, and I were on was pretty thorough. But, I would love to hear from Southern C participants what we might have missed.
Jackie: Favorite thing about the TSC Summit?
Tori: I loved the camaraderie! Everyone was very supportive and positive. It was a very nurturing environment.
Jackie: Favorite find in Charleston?
Tori: My favorite find was Croghan’s!!! My word, they have the finest things! If I even get married, I am handing my husband their business card with a note reading, “Never shop anywhere else if you know what’s good for you.”
