Spooky Easy Bars
Did ya’ll have 4H where you lived growing up? We did, and each elementary school student was required to give an oral presentation as 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. I always dreaded those things because I hated speaking in front of people, but for the record, I think I came away with a blue ribbon every year.
One year, I demonstrated how to make Easy Bars–it’s that simple of a recipe. I’m not the most creative person in the world, so my offering for Halloween this year relies heavily on the random colors associated with the holiday. I made Easy Bars, and I made them to be black and orange. Isn’t that clever? I’m actually quite proud of myself. Blue ribbon for me!
Easy Bars, Halloween-Style
Ingredients:
Black:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 bag (3 cups) mini marshmallows
Orange:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 bag (3 cups) mini marshmallows
Directions:
For each layer, do the following:
Melt the peanut butter, butter or margarine, and chips in the microwave and mix until smooth. Stir in the vanilla. Fold in the marshmallows and mix well. Dump into a buttered or lined 9×9 pan–the order of the layers is completely up to you. Place in the fridge until set and slice into squares.
Looks delish! Compliments from a fellow 4Her!
