Meet Wayne Anderson, Owner of Cabana Cafe in Miramar Beach, FL
Cabana Cafe in Destin is a tourist and local destination in the bottom of Ariel Dunes poolside just inside Seascape Golf, Tennis, and Beach Resort. Think casual atmosphere, good food made from scratch and great live music. They take pride in their food with hand-tossed and stone fired pizzas, build your own burgers or turn it up a notch and go for great steaks and seafood.
I caught up with the fun loving chef and owner Wayne Anderson. Here is the Q&A…
Five ingredients always in your pantry:
Salt, garlic, white pepper, basil, and cinnamon
Do you cook at home? And if so, what?
Not so much being single but I do love to host dinner parties, I rarely will cook the same thing twice. I use my guests as guinea pigs for the restaurant.
Where is a culinary travel destination for you and why?
France because my mom will kill me if I said anywhere else.
What are your go-to popular items you like to serve at a cocktail party?
BBQ pork and cheese sliders, homemade chips with cilantro dip, or fried green tomatoes
Sweet and Savory – name your favorite dishes for each.
Pan-sautéed grouper topped with candied pecans, mashed sweet potato and green beans
Chicken topped with creamy marsala wine sauce with mashed potatos and green beans
What do you like to do outside of cooking?
Golf, triathlon training, beach, movies, travel
What would you want for your last meal?
Fried chicken, fried okra, mac-n-cheese, gravy AND german chocolate cake.

Did not know you were in town! Though we live on 30A, husband back and forth to Pensacola, our beach house is East of Cabana Cafe. Wayne has been around town a long time, and my good friend is his PR gal. Recently I did a review shared on my blog 30AEATS.com, and urban spoon. They have wonderful sandwiches and pizza. Good comfort food.! Here is my link with some tasty photos!>http://30aeats.com/local/cabana-cafe-food-fun/
Susan- Are we still on for a fun outing on 30-A when I am there March 4-10? Can’t wait!
My wife and I have been going to the Cabanna Cafe for years and enjoyed the food on every occasion except for our last outing. My wife sent her fish tacos back (smelled spoiled) and we both nibbled on my chicken parmesan which in my opinion was below par. Most of it was still in the plate when we left. Not sure what has changed if anything but we ended up spending a little over $50.00 and left still hungry. We’re still up in the air on whether we will be back.
