Loveless Cafe
A few days ago I grabbed lunch at the Loveless café, which if you are from the South you know this establishment is basically a Southern landmark. There is no better place to get a traditional Southern meal. The Loveless has been serving up Southern food in Nashville, TN. for over 60 years and everything is made entirely from scratch! In 1951 Lon and Annie Loveless began serving fried chicken and biscuits {a Southern staple} right out of their front door, and this establishment continues to serve fabulous food!
Here is a little historical bit on the Loveless Café: “Beginning as a party house in the forties, the little white structure that sits next to what is now the Natchez Trace had one of the largest hardwood living room floors around – perfect for dancing the night away. Weary travelers found comfort and refuge in the cozy home and in the food the owners served. As the tiny house became a planned stop for treks along Highway 100, the then private home became known as the Loveless Motel and Cafe. Lon Loveless built and ran the property’s 14 motel rooms while hungry crowds were drawn to Annie’s homemade preserves and scratch-made-biscuits – a secret recipe that remains unchanged to this day.” {About the Loveless}
While you pursue the menu, enjoy some biscuits! The Loveless Café is famous for their homemade biscuits and preserves. Every time I eat here I spread a little butter and a lot of raspberry preserves on the biscuit, it is delicious!
I usually eat at the Loveless a handful of times each year, so since this is not a place I visit often when I do dine at the Loveless I have to make it count! I ordered a half order of the Fried Chicken, a side of Mac and Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Fried Okra, and Hash Brown Casserole; My eyes were definitely bigger then my stomach. Each entrée comes with two sides and you can always add more if you like {the Mac and Cheese and Fried Okra are my favorite side items}. If you ever go to the loveless you have to get the Fried Chicken, it is amazing! To see full menu click here.
When you first enter the Loveless Café you will see walls full of autograph pictures of celebrities who have dinned at this restaurant, some of the photographs are even starting to creep up on to the ceiling.
The blue and white table clothes, wooden door frames, paintings of country music singers, old photographs, and overall décor creates a very cozy Southern feel.

Wonderful post! I LOVE Loveless Cafe ! 🙂
I grew up in Nashville, and the Loveless is where we would go for fun family breakfasts on special occasions. My husband and I shot a wedding there a couple years ago and it’s amazing as a venue too! The pastry chef Alisa Huntsman is awesome, I worked for her years ago when she owned South City Baking Co. at the Factory in Franklin, Tn.
The Loveless biscuits, nothing like ’em. So good!
I really enjoyed checking out your blog too! Great job on the fun fashion finds and tips!
YUM. I was hoping to make it there after The Southern C Summit but ran out of time. It’ll be my top priority next trip to Nashville!
