Lesley & Stuart | A South Georgia Plantation Wedding

More than half of Shannon Reeves Events’ fall weddings took place on southern plantations this year, and kicked off with a wedding on a hunting plantation in South Georgia on October 5. For high school sweethearts. Both went to FSU where she was a cheerleader and he played baseball. She is super girly with the most contagious laugh, he is a super funny guy’s guy. She’s a elementary school teacher, he coaches Tallahassee youth baseball. The nicest.

J and J Weddings shared the day’s photos with me, set at Southwind Plantation, a true southern spot with hunting lodges, shotgun sounds in the distance, horses in pastures on one side of the dirt road and crops as far as you can see on the other. It’s the kind of place that lowers your blood pressure and recharges your love for the south.

The ladies got ready in one of the hunting lodges. Such a masculine space taken over by the girliest of girly – flowers, dresses hanging in doorways, hairspray, champagne, a room full of makeup – you name it.

And the sweet, southern details. Creams and whites and monograms. And that cake…

And the outdoor ceremony with the plantation’s lake and pastures as the backdrop. And perfect weather!
