I love an upholstered headboard. It brings a nice softness to a bedroom as well as an additional surface for textiles. I do love fabrics as opposed to a big heavy wooden bed most of the time.

An upholstered headboard is also a very cost effective option most of the time, depending on the fabric you choose. If you do have a super expensive fabric, a headboard is a great place to get the punch for much less yardage than curtains or a chair. It is an inexpensive way to give a big update to a room by just changing your headboard.

For years I have had a sheet of headboard shapes for my clients. Since Pinterest has come to the world it has opened my eyes to so many wonderful new designs. Here are some great styles I have saved on my “Pinterest Bedroom Board.” I choose the shape based on the scale of the design and what other things are going on in the room.
