Easy Rosemary Garlic Biscuits

I mean I know it’s a bit cliche when anyone says “as Southern as biscuits and gravy”, but seriously what food is more Southern than biscuits?! These homemade Rosemary & Garlic Biscuits are “easy as pie” to make and are perfect for any Southern breakfast table. They can seriously be put together in no time at all. Being a bit of a gourmand, I like to add a little kick of flavor to basic biscuits, so for these I went on the savory side with rosemary and garlic, but this recipe is so versatile that you can add just about any ‘ole flavor you like!

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder and rosemary. Using a whisk, whisk together the dry ingredients. Add the shortening. Using a fork mix together flour mixture and shortening by pressing it against the side of the bowl until the mixture becomes crumbly and there are no large clumps of shortening. Add milk and stir using the fork. The dough should pull away from the bowl. Form into a ball.
  3. Flour a wooden cutting board or other flat surface. Roll out biscuit dough to about 1/2″ thickness. Using a biscuit cutter or round cookie cutter or small bowl, press out biscuits. Place them on a greased baking sheet. Bake in 350 degree F oven for about 12 minutes or until top is golden. Serve tomato jam, pepper jelly or top with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon for a tasty breakfast sandwich.

Making bisuits and pie crust are my achilles heels of baking. LOL! These look so good and don’t appear too difficult to make. I may try this recipe soon!
