“Anybody who doesn’t think that the best hamburger place in the world is in his home town is a sissy.” Calvin Trillin

Beaches and bathing suits, swimming pools and parades, kites and American flags flying high, cook-outs and celebrations are all signs that Memorial Day (the unofficial kick-off of summer) is close at hand! Coincidence that May is also National Hamburger Month? I think not! With the average American consuming three burgers per week, it’s the perfect time to pay homage to the hamburger, an iconic all-American delight.

To celebrate and give the burger it’s due, we have gathered a “best of” round-up for our Southern C readers:

ATLANTA, GA: Holeman & Finch Public House

CHARLESTON, SC: Moe’s Tavern

TEXAS (various locations): Twisted Root Burger Company

MEMPHIS, TN: Dyer’s on Beale

ARLINGTON, VA: Ray’s Hell Burger
