Petite Maison is a Home Decor/ Interior Design business that carries everything from vintage finds, eclectic artwork, to funky jewelry. They have also begun designing and building their own furniture and it is fabulous. Owner Julie Singleton Willis is one of the best curators and scouts that I have seen in retail. She is on the cutting edge of finding the latest and greatest of jewelry designers and artisans. Her trunk shows spotlight emerging talent in the South and a visit to her shop is very dangerous. Julie’s vibrant personality shines through Petite Maison.

We asked Julie to share some of her entrepreneurial spirit here–

Inspiration:

My inspiration comes from so many different things: an amazing new fabric, paint color, artists’ work I admire, or even a piece of vintage furniture that tells a story. I love what I do because I can dabble in it all!

Theme song:

“I Love Beach Music” -Temptations (childhood favorite)

Favorite book:

To be super honest, I have not had time to read a book cover to cover in years! So far this summer I am LOVING my dear friend/author Lilibet Snelling’s new book, Box Girl: My Part Time Job as an Art Installation. It’s fast and funny!

#1 skill/attribute needed to be an entrepreneur:

Passion. You have to LOVE IT! It has to be what you think about most of the time.

Favorite Charity:

CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates

I was lucky to be born in to extremely loving and supporting family and not everyone can say the same!

Favorite social media:

Instagram– hands down

Favorite quote:

“You are only as big as the dream you dare to live”- Anonymous

Interesting tidbit about you or your business:

I am 37 weeks pregnant and about to have my second daughter in a week and a half. She is literally doing somersaults in my belly as I am writing this. It has been quite a challenge to manage it all, but well worth it. I will have had two baby girls while running my business that has now been open for five years in September. It has all been possible thanks to a supportive husband and family!
