Coterie Crush on Design Darling Tami Ramsay
I have had a Coterie Crush on Tami Ramsay from afar for several years and finally met her this past Christmas. She did the Christmas decor for one of her friends/clients that helped host a fundraiser I was also involved with, Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation’s Christmas on Cobbham.
She is every bit as neat as I anticipated. Her Christmas mantles and a very special cotton wreath were divine. She was too! Enjoy my recent visit with this southern tastemaker.
Here are photos I snapped with my iphone for inspiration for Christmas 2013…
At the moment Tami Ramsay from Athens LOVES…
fabric collection:
I am a total sucker for anything by Jim Thompson, particularly the No. 9 collection. I am currently using several fabrics from that collection in different projects. Everything from the ground fabric, to the designs and color ways are simply unparalleled.
china pattern:
I swing wide on this! I am wild about the intense colors and design of Tobacco Leaf by Mottahedeh but my everyday beauty is always the handmade works by Athens ceramicist Rebecca Wood who does pottery like nobody else.
design blog:
As much as I enjoy my own blog, I have been a huge fan of CLOTH & KIND, founded by interior designer Krista Nye Schwartz, for a couple of years now. Krista has an unmatched eye for design, specifically textiles (you gotta see her Textile Files on Pinterest!!) and presents that in the most sophisticated yet approachable way. Also, I now have the distinct pleasure of guest editing two columns on CLOTH & KIND, Anatomy of Flora & Curated, so I am even more wild about it!
paint color:
Always some shade of blue, and specifically the rich and deep hue of Farrow & Ball’s Stone Blue. It’s a bit of a joke now, but I have practically painted every room in my house some shade of blue. Total comfort for me.
candle:
Jo Malone’s Grapefruit. Totally fresh and puts a hitch in my giddy-up.
shop for antiques:
I am at my best as a scavenger. My haunts are varied but I cannot say enough about my local Athens source Agora. Airee does a great job of curating plus there are a few dealers there that are killing it with great finds and I am snapping them up every time.
artist:
My soft and weak spot. Would rather buy art than pay my mortgage. Locally–Andy Cherewick, Rinne Allen, Wendy Hanson, Susan Hable, Margie Spalding. Plus I would sell my soul for a large Sally King Benedict painting.
interior designers:
Tons of wicked talent out there but it comes down to very few for me: The incredible interior and textile designer Katie Leede, Charleston based designer Angie Hranowsky for her rock and roll cum midcentury panache, and Krista Nye Schwartz of CLOTH & KIND for her textile rich and layered interiors.
to collect:
I never pass up Victorian specimen containers, tiny shells, pieces of wood that resemble seagulls in flight, black & white rocks, dried pods of all sorts.
about the south:
It is where you will always find my heart. A born and bread Southerner, I am all grits and biscuits when it comes right down to it. Nothing can emulate the open door easy attitude of this region and I will forever be planted here.

So glad we have met! Eager to see more of her and we too, love r wood pottery.
I should have known that decorating was in her blood when she painted her room black as a teenager. She is an awesome daughter who has made me proud on many levels.
