Coterie Crush on Design Darling Sidney Wagner
We have a Coterie Crush on Sidney Wagner, principal of Eclectic Interior Design Group in Charleston. This stylish low country gal brings a casual and yes “eclectic” sophistication to her selections for the shop and blog.
We loved meeting her at the Southern C Summit on Jekyll Island. It was fun to watch her connecting with fellow southern creatives.
This is a southern tastemaker to watch. Check out some of her favorite things at the moment that she shared during a recent visit.
Fabric collection:
I just can’t get enough of Trina Turk’s Collection for Schumacher. I just used her Trellis pattern in a design project and I use fabrics from her collection a ton in my shop to freshen up vintage furniture!
China pattern:
Normally I am a classic white/cream kind of a gal but Syracuse by Haviland is just the most stunning bohemian pattern of sea glass ridiculousness that it will most definitely withstand the test of time.
Design blog:
I discover great new blogs each day so it is hard to narrow down but I recently met Caitlin Moran and she is so adorable that I have really enjoyed reading her blog Style Within Reach. And I without a doubt Lonny is my go-to source for up-and-coming designers, shops and products and I still scour the B&A section on Design Sponge to get inspired!
Paint color:
Benjamin Moore Peacock Blue has become my “blush and bashful” as it is on the barn door in the center of my shop, the front door of my home and it is the color inspiration for all my new marketing materials-business cards, website, blog, etc.
I am not a big candle person because I am terrified of fire! But I love, love, love Sydney Hale candles (they had me at their packaging) and their Sea Salt is my favorite scent.
Antiques Shop:
This is a hard question to answer as I could never pick JUST one as they all offer endless possibilities so I had to pick THE one that I pass every day as I drive home, Linda Page’s Thieve’s Market, because it is just so darn cute! And I love that the first time I went there I tried to buy something and they wouldn’t sell it to me because they said “It adds to our character.” I TOTALLY get that!
Artist:
I’m such a major fan of local Charleston artist Ann Keane, her use of color is beyond amazing! And my friend Way Way Allen of Novel Showroom (pictured below) paints really beautiful abstracts. She also graciously sells some of her work at Eclectic!
SUCH a hard question as I am inspired by so many various designers, both past and present, but at the moment I can’t get enough of Amanda Nisbet‘s work. The interiors she creates make such a statement while still being very practicable/livable and (not to be repetitive) I love how she plays with color.
I use to pride myself on not collecting anything because I hate clutter but then one day I realized I have about a bazillion antique bottles so the jig is up….I’m a collector! My parents also give me bottles for every holiday so I guess they are enablers. haha
What can I say, I live in Charleston so I’m going to say sweetgrass baskets. I got my first one as a bridesmaid gift and have been collecting them ever since. OMG another collection! I must be in denial. I made friends with one of the Gullah ladies that makes them downtown and so she is my go to girl!

Loved everything about this Low Country Designer’s choices above! Might need to paint something Peacock Blue over Memorial Weekend!
