After compiling a list of big screen classics for Mother’s Day, we upped the ante for this Father’s Day with our “favorites” list of a dozen television shows and a dozen movies depicting some famous and infamous fathers. No matter what their faults, most often the good outweighs the bad just like in real life. Loyal, steadfast, stern, genuine, generous, honest, hardworking, inspiring, patient, kind, faithful, determined and disciplined… these are the kind of men that made our list:

Steve Douglas – My Three Sons

Sheriff Andy Taylor – The Andy Griffith Show

Archie Bunker – All in the Family

Howard Cunningham – Happy Days

Charles Ingalls – Little House on the Prairie

Mike Brady – The Brady Bunch

Tom Bradford – Eight is Enough
