Cinco y Diez

After hearing about Chef Whitney Otawka’s latest endeavor at The Southern C Summit in Athens and months of drooling over her instagram feed, I finally visited her new restaurant, Cinco y Diez, in Athens, Georgia for brunch last month.

Cinco y Diez is the latest collaboration from Athens food authorities Hugh Acheson and Melissa Klegg. The two began their food journey together with the Athens landmark, The Last Resort Grill (another absolute must.) This round with Cinco y Diez they offer a cool neighborhood spot with tradition southern foods inspired by flavors of the Americas.

My friends and I started off with a trio of salsas, guacamole and agua frescas.

Their entire brunch menu offered a variety of small and big plates with deliciously described dishes. Overwhelmed with choices, I asked my friend Lyric, photographer and server for CYD, what to order. Her recommendation for a first timer was CYD Chorizo Hash- crispy sweet potatoes, kale, chorizo, two poached eggs, and chipotle marita hollandaise. It was exactly what I needed. Bonus… it arrived in a personal skillet!

Like all of their restaurants, Cinco y Diez is a beautiful space with unique decor touches, delicious food and impeccable service. Eating well in Athens is a must and I absolutely did so at Cinco y Diez. Can’t wait until my next visit… I have to try and save room for homemade churros!

Stay tuned for more of my recent trip to Athens!
