Biscuits & Jam at the Southern Living Idea House with Brett Eldredge

Nashville, Tennessee
There’s just something special about growing up in the South. We appreciate all things Southern…like sweet tea, finger lickin’ cuisine and good ole country music. Imagine my excitement when I saw that The Southern C was giving away tickets to see the up and coming country music star Brett Eldredge! AND the best part about it was the venue. If you’ve not toured the beautiful grounds of the Fontanel (formerly owned by Barbara Mandrell), it’s a must. You’ll find lush, green rolling hills, the Woods Amphitheatre, Pepsi Studio Gallery, Café Fontanella and my favorite, the 2013 Southern Living Idea House. I have been a subscriber of Southern Living magazine for years and am always excited to grab the newest issue out of the mailbox each month. Of course, the August 2013 issue did not disappoint! As soon as I saw the cover, I knew I would spend the next hour or so drooling over the fabulous photos of the Idea House. So double my excitement when I realized Brett Eldredge was going to perform in the courtyard at the Idea House just down the road in Music City!
I was absolutely thrilled when I received a note from the awesome team at The Southern C letting me know I had won tickets to attend the August 11 Biscuits & Jam Concert. Another thing about us Southerners, we also like to take advantage of every ounce of summer so my weekend was already packed with baseball and canoeing and I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap-up one of the last summer weekends of the year. When we arrived on site, of course we had to check out the entire area. The atmosphere was cool, calm and relaxed. Lots of folks milled around finding tasty food and a cold beverage along the way.
As we came around the corner of the Pepsi Studio Gallery, there it stood…I could not wait to get a glimpse of the Idea House. From top to bottom, it really is the perfect Southern farmhouse. I immediately fell in love with the charm and flawlessness of the property. It was exactly as I had imagined! Each space is equally stunning with interesting textures, colors, and design. The guesthouse and “bunkies” are comfortable and intimate, too. Plus, you really can’t get any more Southern than front porch sittin’ with biscuits and jam and a refreshing cocktail surrounded by beautiful scenery and family and friends.
Well, wait. It actually can get better, believe it or not. Just add country cutie Brett Eldredge and it’s the ultimate Southern Sunday night! We took a couple chairs and set up next to the gorgeous landscaping right in front of the small stage. Brett came out with three of his band members and sang most of the songs from his new album, Bring You Back and told each song’s story, why it was written and why it was so special to him. He has an incredible, amazing and powerful voice! He also performed a few country music songs from legendary artists like George Strait. After about a 75 minute set, he wrapped up with his hit single Don’t Ya and the crowd went wild! Everyone jumped to their feet, danced and sang along.
It’s evident the passion Brett has for his music and fans. The passion of the designers is very evident in the Southern Living Idea House as well and I’m already looking forward to seeing the 2014 house. I wonder who will perform at the Biscuits and Jam Concert Series next year? I just know it will be great. And I just know it will be all things Southern.
We had the perfect seats! Look how close we were…
The view from behind us…beautiful!
A little pre-concert photo, waiting for the fun to start 🙂
Special thank you to The Southern C for allowing us to experience a great evening! Y’all are the best!
Love your post… I feel like I was there with you! So glad that y’all got to attend the Biscuits and Jam concert. Cannot wait until we are at Fontanel October 17th as part of The Southern C Summit! After the day’s educational sessions at Ruby in downtown Nashville, we will move the party to the Southern Living Idea House for a fun evening of Cocktails & Conversation with Executive Editor Lindsay Bierman! Hope you can join us.
Thanks, Whitney! That sounds like so much fun 🙂
