I’m currently counting down the days until the Southern C Summit in Charleston… 86 days to go! No trip to the Holy City is complete without eating great food, shopping way too much, and cruising the streets scoping out beautiful historic buildings. As you plan your itinerary for this year’s Summit, make sure you leave some time to explore the Holy City!
Architecture
Our Summit headquarters was once again the art deco stunner, The American Theater circa 1942. This theater is a favorite venue on King Street; you may also remember this spot from The Notebook filmed in Charleston in the early 2000s. Right next door to the American Theater is the William Aiken House built in 1810. We had a fabulous lunch inside the house with kate spade new york tablescapes provided by Lifeguard Press.
After a quick bite and business card trading, I had to take a look around.
FoodThe Grocery
Charleston is a food town so leave your diet at home. I tried a handful of new restaurants this trip that were excellent! Some highlights…
Left to right: Leon’s Oyster Shop, The Ordinary, The Butcher & Bee
One on my list that I didn’t make it to was Chez Nous. Follow them on Instagram and you’ll see why. YUM. Oh and Edmund’s Oast is a must for next time. Apparently they brew a PB&J beer… going to be all over that next time.
Shopping
Croghan’s – #UseYourSilver
I hit King Street hard this year. One of my favorite events at the Summit this year was Shopping with House Account at Hampden Clothing, Theodosia Jewelry, and Croghan’s Jewelry Box. After our sessions Thursday, we stopped by Hampden Clothing to check out jaw dropping pieces from SUNO and Theodosia with special looks styled by the fabulous Chassity Evans of Look Linger Love and Hanna Seabrook of gadabout. Next we moved down the street to Croghans to drool over vintage baubles and beautiful silver vignettes. reminding you how to “Use Your Silver” at Croghans. This was genius because it gave me new inspiration to utilize some of the fancier pieces we got as wedding gifts. Major props the team that put this event together. Who doesn’t a love a cocktail party where you can shop?
Emily! Let’s do Chez Nous while you’re here – it’s on my list too!! So excited 🙂
Perfect!
