At The Southern C, our demographics span the entire South, from large cities to small towns, each with their own unique blend of Southern culture. This mix is a large part of what makes The Southern C special. We want to promote this mix by having members in different cities peel back the curtain on the way they conduct business in their town.

Our fabulous and oh so stylish friend, Caroline Bramlett, is sharing some of her favorite things including what makes a day in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama so special.

First things first: breakfast at Continental Bakery, one of my very favorite local places to grab a sweet pastry and refreshing drink to start my day!

Get to know Caroline Bramlett and LCB Style as she shares a little about her work life below, as well as her guide to Birmingham on our instagram and Pinterest Board.

Describe your brand/blog and how it got started:

The world of fashion has always intrigued me. From a young age, I have had a huge passion for art, creativity, and design. In high school, I began immersing myself into the world of blogging (after reading and following blogs for years) and launched my own fashion and style blog, LCB Style. What began as an outlet for me to document my fashion and style findings in high school soon grew into a home for sharing my personal style and creative work (original fashion designs, fashion illustrations, and digital publications) as a college student. Over the past year, it has grown into so much more. It has been such a joy to collaborate with brands and designers from all over the world to create inspiring content to share on LCB Style, and I have loved sharing my daily outfits and favorite travels with my readers and friends.

First job:

my current position as a fashion + travel blogger!

After breakfast and making my to do list for the day, it’s back to my desk to answer emails and phone calls, update my social channels with my daily blog post, work on my current brand collaborations and whatever else the day has in store! Being a lover of fashion and color (especially pink!), I love to surround my workspace with things that keep me inspired. Whether it’s fresh flowers, a new dress, or a pretty piece of art, these bright and happy things always make me smile!

Inspiration:

Instagram and Pinterest are definitely my go-to platforms for immediate inspiration. Being a visual person, both of these platforms always open my eyes to something new and inspiring. Secondly, traveling and meeting new people and seeing new places is one of my biggest inspirations for outfits and posts. I have grown up in a family that is always on the go, and a quick trip to the beach or the country, seeing something new, always inspires me.

#1 skill needed to be an entrepreneur:

Passion. When your passion is greater than your fear, anything is possible.

Role model:

Amy Smilovic, Tory Burch, Blair Eadie, and Olivia Palermo are a few of my biggest style role models.

Favorite social media:

Instagram, for sure!

Fave Insta accounts to follow:

@blaireadiebee, @thestylebungalow, @lucycuneophoto, @margoandme, @damselindior, @hampdenclothing, and @ohhcouture are just a few of my favorites!

Most used emoji:

the pink heart

Favorite quote:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

Biggest risk that paid off:

Taking a non-traditional college path (online classes) in order to pursue my passion for fashion and blogging.

Interesting tidbit about you or your blog:

I am one of five children, and my siblings are my best friends!

Theme song:

“A Head Full of Dreams” Coldplay

Favorite book or author:

PASSION: The Bright Light of Glory by Louie Giglio

Hobbies:

drawing, painting, reading, and traveling

Favorite charity:

Christian Service Mission

Favorite session at the Summit:

James Nord’s keynote was my favorite from TSC Summit 2017. I had been watching his “Drink with James” series on YouTube for months, so it was really exciting to see in person!

What you love most about your town:

The food and beautiful architecture. The proximity to the beach, lake, mountains, farm, and more is also a nice perk of Birmingham. It is so nice to be able to easily travel to other fun places without too long of a drive.

Describe a typical day in your town:

Wake up, quiet time, get ready, eat breakfast, make my to do list, answer emails, work on school assignments, meet my siblings for lunch, work on blog posts and social posts, mail/ return packages, shoot outfits for my blog, work out/go for a walk, eat dinner, more school work, study for tests, edit photos and write the following day’s blog post, lights out!

After being behind the computer all morning, I love to spend the afternoon doing a little “market research” (a.k.a. shopping!). @monkeesofmountainbrook is one of my favorite local boutiques that has a great selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories from some of my favorite designers! How fun is their bright yellow door?! You can’t miss it!

Go to weekend recipe:

Does ice cream count as a recipe?

If you ever find yourself in Birmingham, one thing you absolutely must do is stop by the Pepper Place Market on Saturday morning! Picking up fresh flowers (how gorgeous are all these colors!?) from Hepzibah Farms, fresh fruit and veggies from Jones Valley Teaching Farm, and a few Hero Doughnuts is always a one of my favorite ways to kick off the weekend!
